- Apprenticeships are free of charge for the learner (you are actually paid a salary!)
- There is no upper age restriction to enrol onto an Apprenticeship programme, so long as you are 16+ years old.
- Working hours are usually between 30-40 hours per week which includes your release to College.
- There may be a fee for the employer willing to support you, but this depends on a few factors.

This programme of study is designed for adults who are working in a school assisting teaching staff for a minimum of 10 hours per week.
What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?
Candidates are expected to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to undertake the award. It is therefore recommended that candidates for this award should: 1) Have sufficient general education to undertake a Level 3 qualification, e.g. Level 2 Literacy; 2) Be working in school in a paid, voluntary or placement capacity with 3-19 year olds; 3) Have significant work experience in a school setting.

What Will I Learn?
There are 11 mandatory units which total 32 credits: Understand Child and Young Person Development, Understand How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People, Communication and Professional Relationships with Children and Young People, Schools as Organisations, Support Learning Activities, Promote Children and Young People's Positive Behaviour, Develop Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults, Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Work with Children and Young People, Support Assessment for Learning, Engage in Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings, Support Children and Young People's Health and Safety.
How Will I Learn?
The underpinning knowledge is delivered using a range of methods including tutorials, group work and projects. Candidates are encouraged to develop the skills and knowledge which will allow them to work independently where possible. Practical activities will play a central role within the course. Time spent in placement is vital to the learning approach, where candidates learn from experience.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Assessment enables the learner's workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification. Methods of assessment could include: inference of knowledge from direct observation of practice, witness evidence, professional discussion/questions, reflective accounts, written assignments, work products, tasks set by Cache. The qualification will be a pass or refer and all the assessment criteria of the chosen units must be achieved in order to obtain a pass.
