Course Overview
This 12 week short course is designed to provide you with the techniques, support and understanding that is required for u young people’s mental health. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health is designed to equip learners with an understanding of the concepts, risk factors and impact of mental health. The course is aimed at learners in healthcare, social care and education.

What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?
There are no previous entry requirements for this qualification. As this is a Distance Learning programme, you must be able to commit some spare time to work on your assessments in between your tutorials.

How Long Is The Course?
12 weeks.

What Will I Learn?
The units in this course are: Understand the concept of mental health Know the legislation and guidance that applies to children and young people’s mental health Understand risk factors which may affect the mental well-being of children and young people Understand how abuse or bullying may affect the mental health of a child or young person Understand stress and anxiety in children and young people Understanding depression in children and young people Know about specific mental health conditions that children and young people may experience Understand the impact mental health concerns can have on children and young people Understand the importance of being diagnosed with a mental health problem Understand person-centred approaches to supporting children and young people with mental health concerns Understand how to promote mental well-being in children and young people

How Will I Learn?
Upon enrolment, your tutor will provide you with a resource pack which will contain three workbooks with a corresponding end of unit assessment booklet to complete. Your tutor will arrange a three-weekly tutorial session to give you support, advice and guidance on the course content and to provide feedback on the work you have completed. To be awarded the qualification, you need to successfully complete the three workbooks.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Your tutor will mark your completed end of unit assessment booklets which will then be verified by the awarding body. No examinations are required.
