16-18 Students (Age at 31st August)

  • Students studying their first level 3 course (Some level 3 courses are not included, so please check with Student Services)

Apprenticeships

  • Apprenticeships are free of charge for the learner (you are actually paid a salary!)
  • There is no upper age restriction to enrol onto an Apprenticeship programme, so long as you are 16+ years old.
  • Working hours are usually between 30-40 hours per week which includes your release to College.
  • There may be a fee for the employer willing to support you, but this depends on a few factors.

Course Overview
The Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People provides the learner with the opportunity to study a range of topics from three main areas: child care and education, babysitting and parenting responsibilities.

What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?
There are no previous entry requirements for this qualification. As this is a Distance Learning programme, you must be able to commit some spare time to work on your assessments in between your tutorials.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Your tutor will assess your work and provide you with feedback. There are no exams to this course.

Where Could This Course Lead To?
Progression from Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Within the Level 2 Certificate Introducing Caring for Children and Young People, learners are able to achieve unit TDA 2.2 ‘Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people’ (Unit ref: K/601/3323). For those learners wishing to progress to work in the Children and Young People’s Workforce, we recommend that this unit is offered as an introduction to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce qualification. This will provide credit which can be carried forward and will support the transition to this qualification when learners are 16. These qualifications support the learner in making an informed choice about working with children and/or young people.
