Course Overview
The Diploma Level 3 in Uniformed Services is ideal if you want a career in the Police, Fire, Prison, Security or Ambulance Services, the Armed Forces, HM Customs & Excise, Community Service organisations or other public sector organisations. Progression to study at Higher Education with the attainment of the necessary UCAS points.

What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?
You must have achieved a Level 2 Diploma at a suitable grade in Uniformed Public Services or a similar qualification, such as Sport.

How Long Is The Course?

Two Years

What Will I Learn?
You will cover a range of subjects that are pertinent to a career within the public services. Units covered include: Government Policies and the Public Services, Citizenship and Diversity, Teamwork and Leadership, Communication and Technology, Skills for Land-based Activities, Aspects of Law and Legal Services, Planning and Management of Major Incidents, Responding to Emergency Service Incidents amongst other fitness and sport-related units. You will also take part in sport and fitness activities with a view to attaining required levels for fitness tests within the Uniformed Public Services. English and Maths Functional Skills are a mandatory part of the course.

How Will I Learn?
You will develop many skills that are designed to prepare you for a career within the Public Services. These include: working with people, volunteering, communication, teamwork and leadership, planning, researching and evaluating information.

How Will I Be Assessed?
You will be assessed using a variety of different methods including: written reports, preparing and delivering power point presentations, preparing and designing leaflets and academic posters, taking part in practical activities and simulations. Feedback and tutorials will be given at regular intervals.

Where Could This Course Lead To?
There is a progression route to complete a second year top course at Level 3. Progression can lead to other courses at HE level and students who wish to study criminology or a related field find this course a useful FE course to prepare them for HE.
