Course Overview
This two year course provides a thorough background for employment, training and education in a wide range of Health and Social Care professions, such as Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Care Home. It places an emphasis on the vocational aspects. Work experience, visits and vocationally qualified staff combine to provide an interesting but challenging programme. There is 200 hours of work placement included in this course.

What Qualifications Or Experience Do I Need?
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above or a First Diploma in Caring or NVQ Level 2 in Care. Mature students can gain entry to the course based on appropriate previous experience in a care setting. All candidates will be interviewed to ensure that the course is suitable for future career needs.

How Long Is The Course?

Two Years

What Will I Learn?
You will study 18 units, 9 of which are mandatory and 9 optional. Key Skills will also be covered. Mandatory units: Equality, Diversity and Rights, Communications Skills for Health and Social Care Professionals, Psychology of Care Practice, Working with Service Users in Care Settings, Behavioural Awareness in Care, Applied Practical Care, Key Skills Communication and Application of Number.

How Will I Learn?
An Individual Learning Plan will be developed for you to ensure that all of your learning needs are met. Classroom sessions will provide academic knowledge and an opportunity to take part in practical work. You will also complete a weekly work placement to develop your skills in working with people in a Health or Social Care setting.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Written assignments, presentations, group work and practical skills are used to monitor learning. Some element of external assessment is by the awarding body.

A wide variety of career opportunities within the Health & Care sector. Higher Education courses or suitable employment in various care establishments.
